Azad Parindey, Vol-20
Azad Parindey Volume 20 explores true independence and challenging patriarchal traditions for gender equality.
Published in 75th year of Indian independence, Azad Parindey Volume 20 delves into the profound connection between true independence and gender equality. This edition challenges the traditional narratives surrounding Raksha Bandhan, a festival that has historically reinforced patriarchal norms by casting men as protectors and women as dependents. Instead, we call for “Samanta Bandhan,” a celebration of mutual support, love, and equality that transcends gender roles and empowers everyone to protect and uplift each other.
As we reflect on India’s journey toward freedom, we are reminded that true “Azaadi” (Independence) cannot be fully realized until every individual, regardless of gender, caste, or creed, enjoys equal opportunities and rights. This volume features powerful perspectives from Azad’s community—trainees, feminist leaders, and drivers—who share their personal experiences of navigating a post-pandemic world where pre-existing challenges like unemployment, poverty, and gender-based inequalities have been exacerbated. Their stories underscore the urgent need to dismantle patriarchal structures and embrace a more inclusive, equitable society where independence is celebrated through equality and shared responsibility.
Azad Foundation’s ongoing efforts to challenge these deep-rooted societal norms and promote gender justice are highlighted in this edition. Through our #SamantaBandhan campaign and various initiatives, we continue to push for a more inclusive celebration of independence—one that truly embodies the spirit of “Samanta Aur Azaadi.”
This edition invites readers to reflect on what it means to be truly independent and to join us in our mission to create a gender-equal society where everyone can thrive.
